Photos.mickelson.org is comming along very nicely. I didn’t want to use a database to store the images on the site so I made a php script to parse out the contents of a directory and display thumbnails for the images in that directory. After I got it working I realized that portrait oriented pictures do not work with the script that I created. Oh well, no more php coding for me today. I will fix thatin version 2.
Books
I finally finished Catch-22 today. I have to say that the book ended kinda anti-climatically. It seemed like Heller ditched the writing style that kept the entire book so interesting and funny towards the end an especially in the last chapter. Overall it was a good read and was quite funny. I found the parts with Milo Minderbinder most facinating and I wish there was a novel based on his perspective. I still do not understand how his syndicate made money.
After finishing Catch-22, I went to Barnes and Noble and picked up High Fidelity. I went to buy The Coma by Alex Garland but I found High Fidelity while browsing around. The Coma was on the recommended reading list in Cargo magizine.
Summerfest
It has been awhile since I posted anything. Last weekend I went to Summerfest 4 times. Thursday Scott, Kristi and I saw the Big Bang fireworks. Friday I saw Rufus Wainswright with Kendra and Leann. I stayed aroung and saw Ben Folds with Julie and crew and afterward we went to Eve to see Nate. Sunday everyone went to see Jason Mraz. We got down to Summerfest around 1 I think and on the stage where Mraz was playing, a band called Groovology was playing. They were alright. To me they seemed like a band you would hire if you were rich and were hosting a party for your business associates at your mansion, kinda like the party scene in Armed and Dangerous. Recycled Future played next, but withoutt Dave they seem to have lost their luster. It started to rain after Recycled future finished playing and everyone decided to leave. There would be no Jason Mraz for us that night. Monday Jon, Sara, Rob and I went to see Lewis Black. His act has gotten less and less funny each time I have seen him. We caught a bit of Dark Star Orchestra’s first set and then I decided to go home. 4 nights of Summerfest was too much.
