My Favorite Firefox Extentions
by Marshall on January 31, 2006
Here is a small list of Extensions that I use most often with Firefox.
- Disable targets for downloads — This one will prevent Firefox from opening up a new window or tab when you click on a file to download
- Optimoz — Mouse Gestures. I absolutely can’t live without this one. It;s always the first one I install.
- AdBlock Plus — Bye Bye adverts!
- Linkification — Automatically converts plain text URL’s to clickable URL’s
- Paste and Go — Used in conjunction with Optimoz and Tabs, simply copy a URL and create a new tab and voila.
- BugMeNot — View websites which require a login without actually signing up for an account.
- Format Source — A good one for web developers. It formats html source code when you “View Source” of a web page.
- Tab X — Places a close button on each tab, a la Safari.
- FLST — Focuses last selected tab when you close a tab. Helpfull for getting back to the page which originally created that tab.
- SwiftTabs — Configure keybindings for switching between tabs
One extension which I like, Fusion, is no longer being updated for the latest versions of Firefox. Fusion makes the Location bar in Firefox behave like a progress bar when a webpage is loading.
Edit: Someone nice person has come along and created Fission, which does the exact same thing as Fusion did.
