After hearing about Google being down because of the latest variant of the MyDoom virus, I decided to test to see if they were still down. Out of all the random words that I could type in, i used search engine. To my surprise, Google was not the number one hit!

Number 5!!! How can the worlds best/most used search engine be the number 5 result in it’s own search for search engine???

I tried to search the term “search engine” on a few other sites and surprisingly very few actually list their search engine as the number 1. Out of all the ones I tested, I expected at least Microsoft would have their own search.msn.com listed at numero uno, but surprisingly, they were not in the top 15 (or the first page of results), in fact, they have themselves listed at number 40. MIDI Search Engine had a better ranging then Microsoft. I guess that shows you the quality of their search engine.

I found only one site which actually lists themselves at number 1 and that was Yahoo. I really didn’t find that as too much of a shock.
